Position Summary The Campus Director at Chicago, IL for The Chicago School is responsible for ensuring operations run smoothly on campus, supporting students’ engagement and experiences, and helping build a positive campus culture. Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities and Real Estate Planning, the Campus Director oversees day‑to‑day operations of the assigned campus(es). The role requires full‑time presence on campus and/or at events and activities in the local community. Some evenings and weekends are required. Additional occasional travel (5%‑10%) may be required and may fluctuate based on time of year.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Emergency Preparedness – Develop, update, and maintain the campus Emergency Operations Plan, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and local regulations. Coordinate regular reviews and readiness assessments.
Training and Safety Coordination – Plan and facilitate required safety and emergency response trainings for faculty and staff, including CPR, First Aid, AED certification, and campus emergency procedures.
Access Control Oversight – Provide comprehensive oversight of all campus access control systems, including key management, electronic entry, and security protocols.
Operational Leadership – Serve as the primary operational leader for the Chicago campus, determining and communicating operating hours, coordinating closures, and managing emergency notifications.
Policy Implementation and Collaboration – Collaborate with Campus Directors across all locations to develop, refine, and implement consistent policies and procedures.
Budget and Financial Management – Develop, monitor, and manage the Campus Operations department budget; authorize expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility.
Contract and Vendor Management – Oversee contracts related to the Chicago campus, ensuring agreements are current, compliant, and effectively managed.
Staffing and Team Leadership – Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Campus Operations staff; conduct evaluations and foster a culture of professionalism.
Event and Visit Coordination – Work collaboratively with university departments to coordinate site visits, board meetings, and campus events.
Work Order and Maintenance Management – Oversee the campus work order system to ensure timely resolution of maintenance requests.
Building Services Oversight – Serve as the primary point of contact for building engineering, security, and janitorial services.
Regulatory Compliance – Ensure all campus operations comply with applicable municipal, state, and federal laws and institutional standards.
Campus Maintenance – Oversee preventive maintenance programs and building systems to maintain operational readiness.
Space Planning and Utilization – Provide leadership in campus space planning initiatives to optimize facility use.
Vendor and Contract Relationships – Maintain strong vendor partnerships, negotiate service contracts, and ensure cost‑effective service delivery.
Campus Representation – Represent Campus Operations in institutional leadership meetings and cross‑functional initiatives.
Crisis and Incident Response – Serve as the primary point of escalation for operational incidents and emergencies.
Communications and Coordination – Partner with the Communications team to ensure accurate messaging for alerts, closures, and updates.
Clery and Safety Compliance – Ensure adherence to Clery Act requirements and maintain documentation for audits.
Basic Qualifications
Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
3-5+ years in higher education.
Demonstrated professional experience in at least two of the following areas: student engagement and retention, new student enrollment and admissions, event planning and management, facility or campus operations management.
Ideal Qualifications
Earned master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience as an administrative leader in higher education.
Problem‑solving skills – Ability to identify problems, analyze data and information, and develop effective solutions.

Compensation & Benefits This opportunity is budgeted at $97,000 – $125,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation. Benefits include generous paid time‑off, medical and dental insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement plan with employer contribution, flexible spending accounts, and tuition reimbursement.
