Senior Accountant – Marketplace, San Francisco
We’re hiring a Senior Accountant to build and scale the accounting foundation of a fast‑growing, venture‑backed marketplace business. This is a hands‑on role with real ownership. You’ll run the core accounting function end to end while helping design systems and processes that can scale with a high‑volume, multi‑sided marketplace. You’ll work closely with leadership and partner teams to ensure financial accuracy as the company grows rapidly.
Base pay range $120,000.00/yr – $150,000.00/yr
What you’ll do
Own end-to-end billing across marketplace revenue streams (gross vs net)
Review customer contracts and apply ASC 606 revenue recognition
Partner with Sales and Customer Success on billing, collections, and revenue accuracy
Reconcile AR, deferred revenue, billing, and revenue during close
AP
Oversee the full AP cycle, including high-volume payments to 1099 contractors
Manage vendor setup, invoices, purchase orders, and payments
Build automated, scalable AP workflows suited to a marketplace environment
Support cash‑flow forecasting with clear AR/AP visibility
General Accounting & Reporting
Run monthly close including journal entries and reconciliations
Support annual audit and tax filings
Partner with Strategic Finance / FP&A with clean operational data
Improve systems and processes using modern, AI‑enabled tooling
What we’re looking for
3–5 years of accounting experience
Strong understanding of revenue recognition and marketplace economics
Comfortable owning accounting end to end in a fast‑moving environment
Experience with NetSuite, Stripe, Ramp, or similar tools preferred
Willing to be on‑site 5 days a week in San Francisco
Ideally worked in a startup/scaleup
