Residential Counselor - Clarendon

Schedule:
40 hours per week; Sunday‑Thursday, 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM
Pay:
$21.40 – $30 per hour plus $2.00 shift differential (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Summary of the Position The Residential Counselor will provide an evening presence, conducting rounds throughout the building, being available to tenants as needed, assisting with daily wellness checks, observing and upholding tenant rights, ensuring compliance with the occupancy agreement and house rules, setting limits when appropriate, and providing crisis intervention as necessary. Counselors will also contribute to the physical upkeep by noting housekeeping or maintenance issues that arise during their shift, resolving them where possible, and forwarding concerns to appropriate staff for later resolution. Occasional daytime availability will be required for trainings, meetings, and other obligations. This role is a key member of a team focused on helping tenants achieve the highest possible quality of life.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Computer literacy, proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
Ability to work well with a diverse population
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills
Strong writing skills and ability to document observations
Experience working with people with active and untreated mental illness, including substance use disorders
Preferred Qualifications
College degree
Prior experience in residential management or direct service with people experiencing behavioral health challenges
Experience working with people who have been homeless
Familiarity with a Harm Reduction approach to working with people with behavioral health challenges
Experience with crisis intervention
Knowledge of substance use disorder issues and mental illness
Bilingual
