Join us as an
RF OTA System Engineer
at
HP IQ , HP’s new AI innovation lab.
HP IQ’s Wireless Technology Team works cross‑functionally with electrical engineering, firmware, baseband, antenna, system, and product teams to deliver high‑quality connectivity solutions. In this role, you will own system‑level RF performance for wireless products, driving measurement, analysis, and optimization from early prototypes through production. You will play a critical role in ensuring robust connectivity, power efficiency, and real‑world performance across a wide range of indoor use cases.
What You Might Do
Own system level RF performance for indoor connectivity, including range versus rate, throughput, latency, and robustness across real‑world environments.
Plan and execute over‑the‑air measurements in anechoic chambers and representative indoor environments to characterize system performance.
Develop, refine, and maintain OTA test methodologies, test plans, and performance benchmarks to ensure repeatable and meaningful results.
Drive power consumption optimization across RF, baseband, and system level use cases by identifying inefficiencies and recommending architectural or firmware improvements.
Perform board level and EVB bring‑up, including RF validation, calibration, and hands‑on debugging.
Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, antenna, and system teams to diagnose and resolve RF and connectivity issues.
Analyze RF and system performance data to identify gaps, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
Support antenna tuning, coexistence testing, and interference mitigation in complex indoor environments.
Document test results, system characterization, and design recommendations clearly and concisely for cross‑functional audiences.
Essential Qualifications
2+ years of experience owning and optimizing system level RF performance for wireless products.
Hands‑on expertise with OTA testing in anechoic chambers and real‑world environments.
Deep understanding of indoor wireless performance metrics, including sensitivity, throughput, latency, robustness, and power consumption.
Experience with board level and EVB bring‑up, RF validation, calibration, and debug.
Ability to analyze large data sets and translate results into actionable hardware or firmware recommendations.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across hardware, firmware, antenna, and system teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and influence technical decisions.
Preferred Skills
Experience with power optimization across RF and baseband subsystems.
Background supporting antenna tuning and coexistence testing.
Familiarity with RF test automation, scripting, or data analysis tools.
Comfort working in fast‑paced, highly collaborative product development environments.
Ability to independently drive complex technical investigations and communicate root cause analysis clearly to senior stakeholders.
Salary Range $108,000 - $150,000
Compensation & Benefits (Full‑time Employees)
Health insurance
Dental insurance
Vision insurance
Long‑term/short‑term disability insurance
Employee assistance program
Flexible spending account
