Overview SKDK, an award‑winning public affairs and political advertising agency, seeks a driven, self‑starter to join its public affairs team as an associate. With offices in Washington, D.C., New York City, Albany, and Los Angeles, SKDK delivers strategic communications to Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, labor unions, political committees, and candidates.
As an Associate, you will work with a broad range of clients—corporate, association, nonprofit, and issue advocacy—to create creative deliverables that help clients achieve their goals.
Responsibilities
Craft communications materials including press releases, presentations, and social‑media content.
Own research projects that inform client work.
Build and maintain media lists.
Conduct media outreach and develop relationships with reporters.
Monitor media across broadcast, print, online, and digital platforms.
Secure media coverage for clients by pitching stories.
Support client relationship management, including organizing calls and managing workflow with the client and team.
Qualifications
1‑3 years of relevant experience in writing, research, and media‑intensive roles such as political campaigns, media, government, agencies, or similar organizations.
Experience placing national print and broadcast stories; diversity of press coverage is a plus.
Strong writing and research skills with thorough knowledge of AP style.
Working knowledge of social media strategies for communications campaigns.
Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and handle competing deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree, preferred in public relations, communications, political science, or public policy.
Benefits SKDK is committed to pay equity. The target base compensation in this role is $68,000. In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus, commission on new business, and a comprehensive benefits package.
