Kona Medial Consulting is actively looking for a Director of Nursing (Hospice). The target location for this role is in Dallas/Richardson, Texas area.
Position Overview The Director of Nursing (DON) provides clinical leadership and oversight for hospice nursing services. This role ensures high standards of patient care, compliance with federal and state regulations, staff development, and collaboration across the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and supervision for hospice nursing staff
Ensure compliance with CMS hospice regulations and CHAP standards
Oversee patient care plans, clinical documentation, and quality outcomes
Participate in hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline of nursing staff
Collaborate with medical directors, administrators, and interdisciplinary team members
Monitor performance metrics, quality assurance, and infection control programs
Support staff education, mentorship, and professional development
Qualifications
Active RN license in the state of practice (required)
Hospice or home health experience required
2+ years of nursing leadership or management experience
Strong knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs)
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
BSN (preferred; MSN a plus)
Prior Director of Nursing or Clinical Manager experience in hospice
Experience with EMR systems and quality reporting
