Job Description Summary The role is based in San Diego, California. As Procurement Manager, you’ll lead sourcing strategy execution across assigned sites and categories, aligned with our 3–5 year roadmap. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing supplier selection/qualification, negotiating pricing and commercial terms, managing day‑to‑day operations, developing strategies to reduce costs and lead times while improving quality and service levels. The role requires excellent English communication skills as well as strong analytical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing Strategy Execution: Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with BD’s strategic roadmap and category objectives. Lead procurement‑driven initiatives across multiple sites to ensure consistent value delivery.

Pipeline Development: Create long‑term plans that support organizational goals. Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings through supply chain optimization, Kaizen events, and design‑to‑value initiatives.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Strengthen supplier partnerships to enhance performance, increase supply chain efficiency and resilience, and drive innovation and cost optimization through collaborative engagement.

Supplier Development & Compliance: Lead supplier qualification processes, mitigate risks, and optimize source‑to‑pay workflows. Ensure regional suppliers meet compliance standards and performance expectations.

Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts effectively with vendors and suppliers.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support strategic procurement goals.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain (preferably in manufacturing or healthcare)

Strong understanding of Category strategies

Proven negotiation skills and ability to build a pipeline of cost‑saving opportunities

Analytical approach with the ability to assess market trends and supplier capabilities

Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively when faced with complex situations and to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Excellent communication skills in English. Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with senior management and other key stakeholders

Proactive, results‑oriented approach with a track record of successful strategy execution
