Digital and Social Media Manager The Center for Global Development is an independent think‑tank that reduces global poverty through research. We are looking for a talented Digital and Social Media Manager to raise CGD’s digital profile by developing content strategies across social media, newsletters, and online engagement.

Reporting to the Head of Digital, this role will support broader strategic communications objectives and work closely with the Head of News.

Responsibilities

Creating and posting tailored content on CGD’s social media channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, Facebook) and translating complex research into accessible content.

Creating and managing paid ad campaigns across social media and search.

Providing strategic advice to researchers on the professional use of social media.

Developing and pitching new content ideas and experimenting with formats such as short‑form video.

Monitoring platform changes and audience data to identify opportunities and recommend new platforms or distribution channels.

Delivering regular performance reports and contributing to impact measurement and reporting.

Creating multimedia (graphics, short videos) using brand templates and occasionally providing backup support for the Senior Designer/Multimedia Lead.

Supporting CGD’s newsletter program by drafting content and collaborating on strategy.

Qualifications and Skills

Track record of growing a digital presence and creating targeted digital campaigns.

Experience with social media management, analytics, and listening tools (CGD uses Sprout Social and Brand24).

Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with multimedia, video, and graphics software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express, or Canva.

Basic experience with HTML, CSS, and mass‑email platforms like Mailchimp or Pardot.

Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and plan ahead.

Interest or experience in global development or foreign policy is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4–6 years of experience.

Salary Range $65,500 – $74,000. Final salary is based on level of experience, expertise, and education.

The organization works hybrid; all staff are required to be in the office at least three days per week. CGD is registered to employ staff living in DC, Maryland, or Virginia. Candidates must declare a primary residence in one of these locations.
