At Headfirst, we design fun, intentional, and transformational camp experiences where every camper feels seen, known, and celebrated. Growth happens by design through thoughtful activities and trained staff. We create the Headfirst Moments when a camper tries something new, overcomes fear, and realizes, “I can do it.”
Camp details
Camper ages: 3-6 years old
Activities include: art, story time, swimming, sports and games, music and movement, moon bounce, playground, STEM
Weekly themes: Animals, superheroes, insects, outer space
Schedule – In-season (late June through mid August): 7:45 am – 3:30 pm, Monday–Friday; Pre-season (early June): select weekends for training and site preparation
Compensation: $15.00 / hour
Responsibilities
Bring camp to life with enthusiasm, dedication, and unmatched energy
Lead a group of 12–16 campers with a co‑counselor through a planned schedule
Teach pre‑written curriculum and engage campers during break times
Implement safety protocols for supervision, bathrooms, emergency medication, and camper behavior management
Lead music and movement, story time, sports and games, moon bounce, bathroom & sunscreen breaks, transitions, lunch, and snack
Support specialized staff during art, STEM, swim, and morning/afternoon program meetings
Execute morning and afternoon carpool, welcoming each family by name with positive energy
Nurture physical, social and emotional safety of campers
Represent Headfirst for families and facility partners with enthusiasm and professionalism
Assist in caring for the camp facility and community
Arrive on time, communicate schedule changes promptly, and show commitment as a team member
Be flexible with assignments and support other programs as needed
Practice resiliency and problem‑solve with a “How can I help?” mindset
Qualifications
At least 18 years old
If between 16–17, apply for Junior Counselor Role
Can work around small children – sitting, standing, running, climbing stairs for the full day
Can work in hot, outdoor environments while supervising and participating in dynamic activities for extended periods
Can lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally
Committed to the Cell‑Phone Free policy – carry phones in a locked pouch for the duration of the shift
