This position is eligible for the
Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) , a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. We're seeking a skilled Physician in Primary Care (Internal Medicine) for our Charlottesville VA Clinic in Charlottesville, Virginia. The incumbent of this position provides integrated outpatient, accessible health care services with their health care teams who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs, developing a sustained partnership with patients, and practicing in the context of family and community. The care is person-centered, team-based, community-aligned, and designed to achieve better health, better care, and lower costs. The incumbent is specifically trained to provide comprehensive primary care services through residency or fellowship training in acute and chronic care settings. The Charlottesville VA Clinic is one of four community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) a part of the Richmond VA Medical Center, located in Richmond, Virginia. The Richmond VAMC is a level 1a 349-bed facility offering primary, secondary, and tertiary health care in medicine, surgery, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, intermediate care, acute and sustaining spinal cord injury, skilled nursing home care, and palliative care. The other three community-based outpatient clinics are located in Fredericksburg, Emporia and Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and a strong and mutually beneficial affiliation with the Medical College of Virginia. Residency programs exist in virtually all general and specialty areas of medicine, rehabilitation, surgery, psychiatry, and dentistry. The medical center has an active cardiac transplantation program. The Charlottesville VA Clinic is a community-based outpatient clinic located in Charlottesville, VA. The City of Charlottesville is located in Central Virginia in Albemarle County, approximately 100 miles southwest of Washington, DC. Charlottesville is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, along the Rivanna River. Commonly known as C'Ville, it's known for its rich history, vibrant culture with numerous theaters and music venues and thriving farm-to-table food scene. It's consistently recognized as a top place to live and visit plus ranked as a top small city, best college town and a top food/wine destination. Charlottesville also offers multiple outdoor experiences such as rivers for paddling, parks, hiking and its proximity to the mountains. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The incumbent provides direct patient care in an outpatient clinic setting and works as a member of an expanded Healthcare team to oversee and coordinate medical care for a population of veterans in a group practice setting utilizing the PACT model.
