Summary:

Cares for patients hospitalized for neurologic conditions with an emphasis on stroke including clinical decision making for thrombolysis, thrombectomy and ICU care.

Inpatient call while on service, no night call

Responsibilities

Works as a neurohospitalist/stroke neurologist in rotation with other members of the neurohospitalist/ stroke neurology team across the spectrum of care from ED to ICU to floor care to hospital discharge

Collaborates with other specialties in the multidisciplinary care of neurology/stroke patients

Participates in development and maintenance of clinical pathways in coordination with other specialties to provide highly reliable, high-quality care for stroke patients in alignment with certifying bodies requirements

Participates in quality improvement work in stroke and neurology by determining key performance indicators, process metrics and outcomes measures

Provides stroke-specific review of cases referred to the medical staff's peer review committee on an ad hoc basis

Participates in recruitment and retention of physicians and APCs on the neuroscience team (neurology, neurohospitalist, neurosurgery, neurointervention)

Additional Job Description M.D./D.O. with residency training in an approved ACGME Neurology program. Board eligible or certified in Neurology.

Fellowship training and board certification/eligibility in Vascular Neurology (Stroke).

Current New Mexico License required.
