Location New York Region (East Coast), primarily remote with 20% travel.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage a dynamic portfolio of around 120 University prospects to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and current donors, including alumni, parents, friends, and corporate and foundation prospects.
Plan, organize, and direct large‑scale fundraising plans that include multiple campus and alumni stakeholders.
Write proposals for the solicitation of individual, corporate, and/or foundation prospects.
Help manage and directly staff campus leadership travel, including Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Deans, and Faculty.
Serve as an expert or lead development professional in a specific academic discipline on behalf of campus units.
Ensure predetermined fundraising goals are met and implement program activities to achieve these goals, with a minimum annual raise of $1 million.
Evaluate programs using data analysis and regional expertise, plan and evaluate solicitation programs, and make recommendations for improvements.
Ensure results have a major impact on the overall program goals.
Recruit key volunteers who assist in advancement efforts.
Oversee the work of professional and support staff involved in the implementation of multi‑component fundraising programs.
Attend functions, meetings, and serve on internal/external committees as a representative of the location.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of three years of leadership or major‑gift level fundraising experience, demonstrating advanced knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
Advanced working knowledge of the tri‑state region, including current issues of concern for both the campus and higher education.
Understanding of public higher education institutions and their vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements, and infrastructure.
Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Advanced written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen to establish and maintain good relationships within the organization and with external constituencies.
Ability to make persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for UC Berkeley to secure major philanthropic gifts.
Advanced organizational, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills, including creative and effective decision‑making and problem identification/resolution, and strong project‑management skills.
Very strong confidentiality skills.
Education Level
Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits Salary range: $123,000 – $137,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This 100% full‑time career position is exempt, paid monthly, and eligible for full UC benefits. Remote work with preference for East Coast location; travel 20% of the time.
Full‑time (40 hours per week), 100% remote.
Exempt and paid monthly.
Travel requirement of 20% of time.
