Production Planner
Highly prefers automotive industry experience • Intermediate Excel required • Position manages 1,200+ part numbers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reviews sales orders and forecasts to set production priorities based on customer delivery dates, raw material availability, and capacity.
• Plans and schedules regular production and production trials to achieve optimal productivity and inventory levels.
• Maintains safety stock levels based on customer and internal risk requirements.
• Analyzes customer demand, supply chain issues, and production status daily; identifies and resolves gaps impacting the schedule.
• Works with Purchasing to evaluate raw material availability against MRP and communicates forecast changes that may cause shortages.
• Supports resolution of material, workforce, machine, or planning issues affecting on-time delivery.
• Maintains communication with Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Production, Warehouse, and Shipping regarding order requirements, rush orders, and delays.
• Provides initiatives for continuous improvement in production and engineering.
• Creates and delivers production status metrics to support decision-making.
• Participates in daily production planning meetings with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Production, Warehouse, and Shipping.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years related manufacturing experience; production planning preferred.
• Knowledge of MRP systems; JDE preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS
• Microsoft 365; JD Edwards or similar ERP/MRP system
• Intermediate Excel required
CERTIFICATIONS
• APICS certification preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Regularly required to sit, use hands for computer work, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally required to walk and reach with hands/arms.
• Must be able to lift to 25 lbs.
• Requires close attention to detail and accuracy.
• Work performed in an office and manufacturing environment:
– The office is temperature-controlled.
– Manufacturing floors may vary in temperature.
