Office Engineer III ( Asset Renewal Office Engineer)
Location: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX
Position Overview
The Asset Renewal Office Engineer reports to the Asset Renewal Program Manager and supports the delivery of multiple small projects simultaneously. The Asset Renewal Program focuses on replacing end-of-life airport assets, including MEP fire and security systems, vertical and horizontal transportation systems, building enclosures, below-grade utilities, baggage systems, and passenger boarding bridges.
This role is based on site at LAX and supports construction activities in an active, occupied airport environment.
Essential Job Duties
- Oversee administrative processes and construction requirements for multiple concurrent projects
- Work closely with the Asset Renewal team, LAWA departments, City departments, contractors, and airline stakeholders
- Review and process payment applications, including resolving quantity disputes
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and organized project files
- Review and respond to RFIs
- Review submittals for compliance with contract documents
- Read and interpret design drawings and specifications
- Support project startup activities, including contractor or design-builder onboarding
- Support project closeout activities, including:
- Operations and maintenance manuals
- Payment releases and final pay applications
- Punch-list documentation and closeout
- Warranty and training requirements
- Assist the Construction Manager and Program Manager with additional tasks as needed
- Take meeting minutes and distribute to attendees when required
- Coordinate and implement Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs) and Utility Shutdown Requests (USRs)
- Support construction work performed in an occupied and operating campus
- Work on phased and complex public agency projects in active environments
- Be available for modified schedules, including after-hours or weekend work as construction activities require
Hardware / Software Knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in Bluebeam
- Familiar with Project Management Information Systems
- Ability to work in CAD or Revit is a plus
- Strong skills using management software to create logs, charts, and tracking tools
Professional Experience & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience managing the design of small to medium-complex building projects, utilities, and infrastructure improvements
- Airport project experience strongly preferred
- Experience on projects valued over $25 million
- Experience with multiple delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong knowledge of industry practices and regulations
- Self-starter with a proactive, results-oriented approach
- Able to assume additional responsibilities as needed
- Comfortable working with stakeholders of varying technical and educational backgrounds
- Highly detail-oriented and well organized
Education / Training
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field
- Equivalent relevant industry experience will be considered
