The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor will lead and coordinate day-to-day warehouse logistics operations—including inbound, outbound, inventory management, and staff leadership—to ensure timely, accurate, and safe distribution of goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage warehouse teams: Assign, monitor, and adjust workloads; mentor, coach, and provide performance feedback.
- Oversee inbound/outbound operations: Coordinate unloading, receiving, picking, packing, and shipping processes while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
- Inventory control: Conduct cycle counts and audits; manage inventory records and coordinate with procurement or sales teams.
- Process improvement: Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements (e.g., Lean, Kaizen) to optimize productivity, reduce costs, and improve workflows.
- Safety and compliance: Enforce OSHA/DOT regulations and internal SOPs; investigate and report safety incidents; ensure proper handling of hazardous materials (MSDS compliance).
- Cross-functional coordination: Maintain clear communication with customer service, procurement, transportation, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Reporting and documentation: Track and report KPIs (e.g., productivity, accuracy, OTIF), maintain operational logs, and monitor equipment usage and maintenance.
- Team development: Conduct training, manage schedules, appraise performance, and address employee issues including disciplinary actions.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s/bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years in warehouse/logistics roles
- Supervisory experience, ideally a year or more in shipping/warehouse/distribution environment.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, similar platforms).
- Performance in Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving aptitude, attention to detail.
- Familiarity with MS Office.
