Manufacturing Engineer – Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Manufacturing Engineer , based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with strong technical and operational experience who are passionate about scaling advanced energy technologies from design to full‑scale production.
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes for Hadron Energy’s micro modular reactor components and systems. This individual will collaborate closely with design, mechanical, and industrial engineers to ensure products are manufacturable, cost‑effective, and meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
You will play a key role in building Hadron’s first manufacturing infrastructure—translating engineering concepts into scalable production processes, establishing tooling and quality controls, and supporting the company’s transition from prototype to volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement manufacturing processes for reactor systems, components, and subassemblies
Collaborate with design and mechanical engineers to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, and reliability (DFMA)
Create work instructions, process documentation, and production tooling specifications
Support factory layout design , material flow optimization, and equipment selection
Establish and monitor process control plans , ensuring repeatability and quality throughout production
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for production issues
Develop process validation and qualification plans for new manufacturing lines and suppliers
Work with Procurement and Quality teams to qualify vendors and ensure adherence to engineering and regulatory standards
Support prototype builds, pilot production runs, and full‑scale manufacturing ramp‑up
Identify opportunities for automation, cost reduction, and productivity improvement across manufacturing operations
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and nuclear regulatory requirements
Qualifications & Skillsets
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
5+ years of experience in manufacturing process development or production engineering for complex mechanical or energy systems
Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly processes
Experience with CAD and PLM tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) and manufacturing documentation systems
Familiarity with ASME, ISO, and quality management standards
Proven ability to develop process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and control plans
Hands‑on experience with factory start‑up, equipment commissioning, or production line optimization
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and data‑driven production management
Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional technical teams
Passion for innovation, clean energy, and building the foundation for a new generation of advanced nuclear manufacturing
