Overview We currently have an opportunity for a
Chief Estimator
in Lisle, IL. The primary objective of this position is to work as part of an estimating team focused on Heavy Highway Construction. This is a leadership position and will be part of the senior management team of the organization.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of the estimating process
Conduct thorough analysis of drawings and specifications, ensuring required information is provided
Perform detailed project cost estimates using estimating software such as HCSS
Research selected products from a cost and constructability perspective
Solicit sub‑contractor pricing and bids for different trades in preparation of cost estimates
Review progress and construction documents for constructability; lead and participate in discussions regarding alternate detail and materials for specific areas or trades
Provide and present value engineering options and costs
Provide and present estimating productions and scheduling
Coordinate administrative staff in sending documents to vendors
Qualifications
College degree in Engineering or Construction Management
Minimum 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
Substantial construction experience and/or engineering background
Thorough understanding of construction methods and means
Local knowledge of the industry
Must be fluent in English—written and oral
Skills
Highly proficient in selected software (Excel, Word, Outlook), HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software, and P6 a plus
Ability to make decisions, work independently, and coordinate with estimating colleagues
Ability to meet critical project deadlines, willingness to coordinate and work as a team member
