Director of HR Talent Strategy
Supports the CHRO and senior leadership team with building a high-performing, collaborative and future-ready organization. This role will focus on the Company’s overall workforce is optimized to meet business goals.
Who are we? Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.
Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission‑critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.
Job Summary
Responsible for assessing organizational talent, identifying capability gaps, recommending development and succession strategies, and advising on organizational structure, design, and workforce optimization — including development, redeployment, or pruning where necessary
Manages, develops, reviews, and delivers HR and talent metrics (e.g., turnover, hiring, bench strength, engagement, performance distribution, HR operational metrics) - identifies trends and areas for intervention
Establishes success metrics for organizational effectiveness initiatives
Work closely with both P&L leaders and CFO along with functional leadership to make recommendations/suggestions regarding talent, role alignment, and bring urgency for change to ensure optimal organizational performance
Assist CHRO with the executive succession presentation including specific recommendations for each person listed
Must be able to move fast on strategic decisions and speak candidly to senior management
Identify high‑potential employees, successors, and development needs
Facilitate change management initiatives that drive cultural alignment and improved organizational agility
Work closely with HR Shared Services, HR Operations, and HR Organizational Development leaders to ensure talent strategy aligns with overall HR strategy and business priorities
Take some travel demands off CHRO, with ability to travel to Guaymas (MX), mid‑west, and east coast locations
Must be flexible and available for travel, 25–30%
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
15+ years of HR leadership experience with deep expertise in talent management, data analytics, and organizational development
Proven track record of driving organizational change and capability building
Proven experience and success in workforce optimization
Change management experience
SPHR preferred
Base Compensation: USD 165,000.00 – 185,000.00 (Paid Salary)
