Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is recruiting a pediatric infectious diseases physician at the assistant or associate professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates should be board certified or board eligible in pediatric infectious diseases and demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical excellence in patient care.

Clinical responsibilities include inpatient consultation, ambulatory clinic referrals and serving as an attending on our inpatient Infectious Diseases service. Faculty will participate in academic and scholarly work. Opportunities include clinical and translational research, quality improvement initiatives and collaboration across multiple programs. The division’s educational role includes teaching medical students, residents and infectious diseases fellows.

Nationwide Children’s is the nation’s largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric health care network. We provide wellness, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative care for infants, children and adolescents from central Ohio, northern Kentucky and West Virginia. The 696-bed hospital includes three pediatric and three neonatal intensive care units, a burn unit, an assessment hospital for special pathogens and robust transplant programs, including hematopoietic cell, heart, lung, liver and renal transplantation.

The successful candidate will join the Section of Infectious Diseases at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The section includes 20 faculty members and established programs in general infectious diseases, neonatal infectious diseases, the Host Defense Program, HIV patient-centered care, hepatitis C, global health and travel medicine, antimicrobial stewardship, hospital epidemiology and infection prevention. Faculty collaborate closely with the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and with investigators in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Centers that our faculty are members in and collaborate with include the Center for Microbe and Immunity Research, Center for Childhood Cancer Research, and Center for Health Equity and Outcome Research. The Research Institute is ranked among the top 10 nationally for NIH funding to freestanding children’s hospitals and includes 12 multidisciplinary Centers of Emphasis that support team science and innovation.

Nationwide Children’s serves as the pediatric academic medical center for The Ohio State University College of Medicine. This appointment allows for additional benefits and collaborations to provide many outstanding opportunities for scholarly and educational work products.
