Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.

Responsible for the contract management process, including ensuring compliance with payment terms.

Serves as the central point of contact and troubleshooter for contract issues, assessing contract compliance and working with operational managers to implement improvement plans.

Facilitates the successful implementation and maintenance of new and existing contracts with hospital departments, resolving contract problems as they arise.

Assists in auditing accounts to evaluate compliance with contract payment terms.

Develops internal channels of communication with key stakeholders to facilitate the dissemination of information regarding contractual changes and new agreements.

Creates reports on approved contract utilization for MedStar facilities and recommends revisions, expansions, or renegotiations.

Develops strategies to increase approved contract utilization of various services in collaboration with MedStar leaders and executives.

Coordinates multidisciplinary forums for managed care orientation and payer presentations.

Manages the successful completion of RFP responses and assists marketing in developing collateral material.

Recommends future contract changes to prevent operational problems, enhance reimbursements, and secure volume.

Performs external market analyses and develops overall assessments of the current healthcare market to assist in strategic decisions.

Provides support for the managed care department and covers for the Hospital/Health Plan Coordinator when out of the office.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Hospital Administration, or a related field required.

Master’s degree with a health‑care concentration preferred.

1–2 years of healthcare operations or finance experience; experience in healthcare reimbursement, CPT/ICD‑9 coding, and basic knowledge of clinical delivery, insurance, and contracting arrangements required.

Proficiency with spreadsheets and database software applications.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range USD $65,062.00 – USD $117,291.00 per year.
