We are seeking a
Senior Database Engineer
to support a mission‑critical Department of Justice (DOJ) environment. This role focuses on database administration, cloud optimization, analytics, and data engineering within the
Microsoft Azure ecosystem .
Schedule: 40 hours/week | Standard business hours

This is a fully onsite role in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
Administer and manage
Azure SQL Databases ,
Azure Blob Storage , and
Azure Data Lake
ensuring security, availability, and performance.
Optimize cloud‑based databases for cost efficiency, scalability, and performance.
Automate database provisioning and maintenance using
Azure CLI, PowerShell, and AZ Copy .
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database performance and availability issues.
Support and execute database migrations from on‑prem SQL Server to
Azure SQL Database .
Design and implement data pipelines using
Azure Databricks
for scalable ETL processing.
Develop and maintain
Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations
for business insights.
Utilize
R Studio
for data modeling, statistical analysis, and large‑scale data processing.
Support administration and troubleshooting of
Apache Tomcat
servers hosting applications and data services.
Diagnose application, security, and database integration issues across platforms.
Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in Database Administration, Data Engineering, or related roles.
Hands‑on experience with
Azure Databricks
for ETL and analytics.
Proficiency in
R Studio
for data analysis and statistical modeling.
Experience building and managing
Power BI dashboards and reports .
Working knowledge of
Apache Tomcat .
Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience with
Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines) .
Scripting skills using Python and/or PowerShell.
Knowledge of Data Governance and secure data management practices.
Experience with cloud data migration (on‑prem to Azure).
Microsoft certifications (Azure, SQL Server, Power BI).
Experience working on high‑impact DOJ systems.
