T‑7A – the next‑generation trainer for the Air Force
F/A‑18, EA‑18G, F‑15, F‑22 – production tactical fighter aircraft undergoing major upgrades
Various programs within the Phantom Works organization
As a member of the Electrical Engineering team, you will lead the development and execution of new Mission Computing solutions. Upon successful design of an architecture that meets all system requirements, you will lead the engineering team in implementing and maintaining that design through lab test and flight test phases.
Position Responsibilities
Lead activities to develop, document and maintain avionics architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert for system‑level architecture, system‑specific issues, and processes.
Lead the engineering team in implementing Open Mission Systems (OMS) and Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes.
Work with specialty engineering teams to decompose requirements to the Mission Computer to ensure performance, safety‑critical, and environmental requirements are understood and implemented.
Coordinate hardware‑software integration efforts in a fast‑paced Agile environment with internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements in collaboration with customers and aircrew.
Analyze customer requests, consider contractual and technical impacts, and translate them into actionable system requirements.
Provide technical leadership for investigating emerging technologies, technical planning, and integration of new technology implementation and demonstrations.
Resolve product integration issues and production anomalies.
Address problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
Experience in Open Mission Systems (OMS) development.
Experience in Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development.
Familiarity with Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI) message standard and Common Abstraction Layer (CAL).
Experience with system design and development, including component interactions, interfaces, and overall system functionality.
Experience with requirements development and management, including technical performance specification and statement of work development.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NSA C2 and NCDSMO interactions and certification processes.
Experience with multi‑level security networks and embedded systems.
Experience with cryptographic units, cross‑domain solutions/guards including access CDS and transfer CDS.
Knowledge of 3U and 6U VPX/OpenVPX architectures (VITA 46 and VITA 65 standards).
Knowledge of signal integrity & interconnect, including high‑speed digital signal design and VPX3 discrete coaxial/twinax cabling.
Experience with high‑performance embedded computing (HPEC) integration.
Experience with hardware design and development across the product lifecycle.
Experience with hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) simulations and testing methodologies.
Experience with secure architecture design, cryptographic protocol implementation, secure boot processes, firmware validation, and secure communications.
Experience with open architecture standards such as SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture).
Experience with mezzanine card utilization (e.g., XMC) in VPX systems.
Experience with 3U/6U FPGAs, GPUs, and CPUs.
Education / Experience Levels Level 3:
Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of related work experience (or equivalent). In the USA, ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.
Level 4:
Bachelor’s degree plus at least 9 years of related work experience (or equivalent). In the USA, ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.
Security Clearance Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance required (U.S. citizenship required). A clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active.
Relocation Relocation may be offered based on candidate eligibility.
Work Schedule 1st shift. The position is expected to be 100% onsite.
