Job Description Job Summary: The Director, Development will establish goals, create strategies and objectives for various development programs to drive philanthropy and activities that reflect the priorities of Cedars‑Sinai. Drives change by securing major gifts in support of the organization and achieving short‑term and long‑term goals. Creates, coaches and drives strategies for success, opportunities, and challenges, reporting and making recommendations in accordance with the overall portfolio of oversight. Designs and implements strategic development plans that reflect the organization's priorities, using data to identify prospective donors, cultivate individuals in the prospect pool, maintain a well‑designed and documented prospect portfolio and participate in gift solicitations. Oversees program management for programs in scope and provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to a team of professional and support staff toward the accomplishment of campaign fundraising goals.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for vision and strategic development of customized strategies to identify and cultivate prospects to convert them into donors, volunteers, and advocates of Cedars‑Sinai.
Plans, organizes, and directs fundraising campaign priorities. May serve as an expert or lead development professional in a specific academic/research discipline.
Manages existing and ongoing giving programs and operations, including planning, gift acknowledgment, stewardship, and accounting.
Evaluates solicitation programs and makes recommendations for improvement.
Recruits, trains, mentors, and supervises gift officers in advancement efforts.
Generates written gift solicitation proposals to prospective high‑net‑worth donors.
Conceptualizes, develops, and executes effective strategies to practice moves management and increase fundraising results.
Plans, develops, and manages relationships with major gift prospects, maintaining a well‑designed and documented prospect portfolio.
Provides recommendations and assists in executing effective moves‑management strategies to increase fundraising results.
Maintains high volume of significant donor relationships, meaningful contact and solicitation.
Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree (required) – Business Administration, Business Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
Work Experience Minimum: 10 years of fundraising or relevant experience in a large complex organization and/or medical healthcare facility; demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding at major‑gift levels; working knowledge of deferred vehicles and community/philanthropic resources.
Minimum: 5 years of experience managing a department/service line(s) with a team of direct reports.
