Role Summary Lead HVAC & Thermal Engineer
Location: Fremont, CA
We are seeking an experienced thermal engineer to design, develop, and ship products in the consumer or automotive industry. You will lead thermal management architecture, HVAC systems, battery cooling, and cabin comfort for Pebble electric RVs. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to bring products to market.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute automotive design concepts from concept through production.
Lead the development of thermal management system architecture, including HVAC, battery cooling, and thermal control for powertrain components.
Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing to define system requirements and ensure designs meet specifications.
Simulate and model thermal systems to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Work with suppliers to source and evaluate components and manage integration.
Develop test plans and oversee testing to validate system performance.
Maintain design documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, and BOM.
Research emerging trends, technologies, and materials in automotive to drive innovation.
Lead design reviews, provide feedback, and recommend improvements.
Mentor future thermal engineers and collaborate with other teams to integrate systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Thermal Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
8–12 years of experience designing and developing thermal management systems, with a proven shipping record.
Experience with simulation and modeling tools.
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
Excellent problem‑solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with automotive OEM standards, practices, and tools for thermal systems.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, capable of leading and collaborating across functions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for presenting technical information.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced startup environment.
Self‑starter, versatile, hands‑on, and mission‑driven.
Familiarity with automotive safety and regulatory requirements is a plus.
Experience with RVs is a bonus.
