Responsibilities and Qualifications
Purpose:
The Clinical Specialists provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics.
Requirements:
Doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE‑Accredited School of Pharmacy.
Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency program. Two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may substitute for the residency program.
SC Pharmacist License (or eligible for SC Pharmacist License).
BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification. Must obtain certification within three months of hire date and maintain it throughout employment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, using ladders, working indoors and outdoors.
Ability to work from elevated areas, in confined spaces, kneel, bend, twist, squat.
Ability to climb ladders (infrequent), crawl (infrequent).
Ability to fully use both hands/arms and both legs. Ability to use automated mixing equipment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted; lift or lower objects from floor to 36 inches; lift from overhead up to 50 lbs; push/pull objects up to 50 lbs.
Vision: 20/40 corrected in one or both eyes; ability to see and recognize objects close at hand; discriminate colors; depth perception; good peripheral vision; maintain hearing acuity.
Maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions.
Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
Ability to work overtime as required and in a latex‑safe environment.
Additional Job Description Minimum Training and Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current AHA BLS or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
