This mission-driven nonprofit exists to expand access to educational opportunities so that all young women, especially those with the greatest need, can fully realize their potential. Since its founding in 2016, the organization has awarded over $1,000,000 in scholarships, delivered 1,000+ hours of direct mentorship, and supported young women in securing meaningful employment.

Building on this strong foundation, the organization is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Development Director to lead and grow its fundraising and revenue‑generation efforts. This is a highly visible role responsible for driving philanthropic revenue across grants, corporate sponsorships, major gifts, and individual donors, while also managing and developing a small but growing development team.

Reports To Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Key Responsibilities

Own and execute the organization’s comprehensive development strategy, with a strong focus on grants, corporate sponsorships, major gifts, and individual giving.

Develop and implement a major gifts strategy, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Lead grant strategy and submissions, including researching funding opportunities, writing proposals, managing deadlines, and reporting requirements.

Design and oversee annual giving programs, including digital campaigns, direct mail, and donor appeals.

Identify, cultivate, and steward corporate sponsors, foundations, and institutional partners aligned with the mission.

Track fundraising performance against goals and provide regular reporting to the CEO and Board.

Donor & Partner Engagement

Build and manage strong relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and community partners.

Oversee donor cultivation, stewardship, and impact reporting to ensure long‑term engagement and retention.

Maintain accurate donor records and pipelines within the donor database.

Partner with leadership to position the organization for long‑term, sustainable funding growth.

Work closely with the Board of Directors, Leadership Council, Junior Board, and Advancement Committee to expand the organization’s network and fundraising reach.

Support board members in donor engagement, introductions, and fundraising initiatives.

Prepare development updates, reports, and materials for board meetings.

Manage and mentor a small development team, providing clear priorities, accountability, and professional development.

Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Development Department, including administrative processes and campaign execution.

Foster a collaborative, results‑oriented fundraising culture aligned with the organization’s mission.

Events, Communications & Special Initiatives

Assist with fundraising events, sponsor engagement, and donor‑focused programming.

Collaborate on social media and marketing efforts related to development campaigns.

Participate in special fundraising initiatives and cross‑functional projects as needed.

Qualifications

Associate Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

3–5+ years of nonprofit development experience, ideally in a fundraising or advancement role.

Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and corporate partnerships.

Experience managing donors, sponsors, and fundraising pipelines.

Previous experience managing or leading a small team is strongly preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and deadline‑driven.

Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, and donor/development databases.

Familiarity with digital fundraising and social media marketing.

Business development or sales experience is a plus.

A genuine passion for the organization’s mission and impact.
