Takeda’s newly formed Lead Profiling team is searching for innovative and collaborative researchers to partner with the Gastrointestinal and Inflammation (GI2) Drug Discovery Unit to design and run high throughput automated assays on state-of-the-art robotic platforms. We seek a highly motivated Research Scientist with a strong foundation in high throughput immunology techniques, laboratory automation and computational biology skillsets.
Your role
Advance our understanding of B cell-driven autoimmune diseases through integration of lab-based experimentation with cutting-edge computational and fully automated laboratory approaches
Execute high throughput pre-clinical pharmacology studies to support candidate selection, accelerating clinical translation for patients with B cell-driven autoimmune disorders
Leverage state-of-the-art automation to streamline and accelerate cell-based assays & pharmacology workflows and manage data across multiple projects, in close collaboration with GI2 scientists and external partners
Maintain our Takeda culture that promotes creativity, open communication, cooperation, and urgency while delivering the highest quality of science for drug discovery
Accountabilities
Lead high throughput, fully automated, pharmacology studies to enable advancement of drug candidates into early clinical trials
Design assays and implement them on automated platforms to drive rapid performance and analysis of cell-based in vitro assays to characterize immune cell function, disease-relevant signaling pathways and drug pharmacology. Drive collaboration and communication between GI2 scientists, automation engineers, and computational biology experts
Champion scientific integrity and rigor in data analysis, preparation, and interpretation of detailed protocols/SOPs.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Automation Engineers, GI2 Scientists and Data Science teams to support data-driven decision-making
Proactively identify complexities and obstacles, propose and implement solutions, and deploy diverse resources to boost research progress
Present findings to cross-functional project teams and GI2 scientists
Education & Competencies
Expected PhD degree in immunology with strong background in cell biology, computational biology skills, or MS with 6+ years of experience, or BS with 8+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech R&D.
Experience with fully integrated automation platforms and assay miniaturization, as well as high throughput data analysis systems
Deep understanding of B cell-driven autoimmune disease and translational research as evidenced by prior involvement in drug discovery is preferred
Proven expertise in lab-based immunology techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA, HTRF, FP, Luminescence, cell culture, & multiplexed assays)
Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
Experience with machine learning or AI-based approaches in biological data analysis.
Familiarity with cloud-based computing environments and data pipelines
Good organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills

The position will be based in Cambridge, MA. This position is currently classified as “hybrid” by Takeda’s Hybrid and Remote Work policy

U.S. Base Salary Range $111,800.00 - $175,670.00
