Medical Director Hematology Oncology – Lynchburg, VA Job Description

The Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center in Lynchburg, Virginia seeks a board‑eligible or board‑certified physician to lead our Hematology/Oncology group. Our 75,000+ square‑foot Regional Cancer Center houses comprehensive cancer services, accreditation from QOPI, CoC and NAPBC, and offers clinical trials through NSABP and NCI.

Responsibilities

70% clinical, 30% administrative

Monday‑Friday, no weekends, no major holidays except on‑call

Team structure: 1 MD : 1 APP

On‑call: 1:7, Hospitalist for inpatient admissions

Satellite office rounding

Comprehensive labs with same‑day turnaround

EMR: Clinic – Varian, Hospital – Cerner

Strong support from executive leadership, physician leadership training programs

Administration

Supports, leads and models the vision, mission and values of Centra

Provides strategic system leadership for Centra Hematology Oncology Clinic

Provides evidence‑based process improvement recommendations to ensure quality of care

Participates in the development of clinical and administrative policies and guidelines

Qualifications

MD/DO

Board Certified or Eligible in Hematology/Oncology

Preferred experience in a similar setting
