The Accessories group is looking for an Engineering Program Manager (EPM) to lead the design and development of accessories projects - supporting various lines of businesses across Apple. In this highly collaborative role, you will oversee project management efforts between a variety of internal Apple engineering teams and external suppliers.

Description Accessories EPM is a technical role that includes responsibility for managing and communicating project definition, development landmarks, project schedules, and project status of new product development. You should be a fearless and disciplined organizer who is ready to work with the highly skilled Hardware, Software, Mechanical Design, and Industrial Design teams to identify and resolve potential risks to the schedule and quality of the product. EPMs should be able to prioritize issues and track the details as well as be in touch with the big picture issues. Success is defined in terms of the quality and timeliness of the pre-production builds and the start of mass production. EPMs need to have a deep understanding of development and manufacturing processes, from part design to circuit board manufacturing to production line bring-up. We are looking for someone who is flexible and can respond quickly, confidently and enthusiastically to changes. Great interpersonal and written communication skills are essential. EPMs interact with all engineering design disciplines plus Safety, Reliability, Marketing, Operations, Packaging, Manufacturing, Component Engineering, and other resources inside and outside of Apple.

Responsibilities

Drive upstream component/module builds to fulfill system engineering build demands. Key contributor to system build planning and execution

Collaborate and facilitate communication across multiple engineering teams, operations, industrial design, and our vendor partners to meet aggressive quality, schedule, and cost goals

Understand technical issues & complex design trade-offs. Drive to closure by bringing together key stakeholders; facilitating decision-making discussions to meet overall project objectives

Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution within and between teams, focus on top level objectives and develop best course of action

Create/maintain complex and detailed project schedules for product enclosure and internal mechanical components. Respond quickly to changes and minimize project impact

Provide timely issue resolution and critical path management as top priorities shift

Understand system-level part interactions (mechanical, electrical, RF); manage a plan to provide key system configurations into reliability testing to validate performance

Coordinate cosmetic and functional partial unit builds for key reviews and early testing

Offer multiple levels of status across a wide spectrum of individual contributors to executive management

Travel to support manufacturing builds up to 20% of the time

Minimum Qualifications

Several years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

Strong technical background in EE or ME. Masters in Engineering is a plus.

Project management experience with experience in working with CM partners

Detailed knowledge of product development cycles

Experienced in setting up project schedules and work breakdown structures

Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience

Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and leadership skills

Highly disciplined in workflow, process, and staying organized on priority tasks

Superior attention to detail with a strong commitment to rigor and excellence

Manage complex build matrices and build planning through complex schedules

Self motivated and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilities

Base pay range for this role is between $141,800 and $258,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
