Job Description We are seeking a Senior Director to join our Financial Planning team within the Asset Management Department. The Senior Director is responsible for serving as a value‑added extension of a financial professional’s practice, partnering with financial professionals to deliver an industry‑leading client experience on all things related to goals‑based planning, and educating and coaching the firm’s financial professionals on Oppenheimer’s financial planning capabilities. This position reports to the Managing Director and Head of Financial Planning and may be based at any of the following office locations: Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City.
Responsibilities
Engage with financial professionals to develop business opportunities with new and existing clients via Oppenheimer’s goals‑based financial planning process.
Educate financial professionals on best practices for integrating financial planning into their business practices.
Collaborate with financial professionals to attend, participate in, and/or lead client discovery and plan presentation meetings.
Drive, partner, or serve as a consultant on the development of an actual plan for presentation when appropriate.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert on planning for financial professionals and affluent UHNW clients, staying current on regulatory and law changes that impact planning.
Build strong, trustworthy, value‑driven relationships with financial professionals, branch managers, business partners and senior management to promote financial planning.
Act as a bridge to the various platforms that represent the firm’s product offering, such as Oppenheimer Asset Management, Oppenheimer Life Agency, and Oppenheimer Trust Company of Delaware.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in financial services, including financial planning, goals‑based investing, affluent/HNW and UHNW client engagement, managed advisory programs, insurance and annuities, and retirement strategies.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field.
FINRA registration: Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) required.
Active state life and health insurance license required.
Knowledge and familiarity of branch functionality and advisor/client relationship preferred.
Strong understanding and experience with MoneyGuidePro or similar financial planning software.
Willingness to travel 10‑25% of the year.
Self‑starter with proven ability to work closely with financial professionals and other team members.
Ability to juggle multiple planning opportunities simultaneously.
High ethical standards and a client‑first mindset.
Exceptional presentation skills for audiences ranging from 1 or 2 individuals to groups of 50 or more.
Passion for coaching, training, and educating colleagues.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and attention to detail.
Compensation Base salary range: $130,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus.
