Job Summary
The Dimensional Engineer owns dimensional requirements from early design through production launch, ensuring robust fit, finish, and functional performance of vehicle systems. This role partners cross-functionally with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers to define, analyze, and validate dimensional strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Own dimensional requirements from concept through SOP
Develop and maintain 3D tolerance analysis (DVA) models
Define and validate GD&T aligned with design and manufacturing intent
Support dimensional integration, gap/flush, fit, and alignment issues
Review and approve drawings, CAD, and engineering changes
Analyze build and measurement data (CMM, scan data)
Lead dimensional root cause analysis and corrective actions
Support supplier feasibility and tolerance capability discussions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering
7–8 years of dimensional engineering or tolerance analysis experience
Strong GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5)
Hands‑on experience with 3D tolerance analysis tools (e.g., 3DCS)
Experience supporting programs from design through production launch
Strong cross‑functional communication and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Automotive OEM or Tier‑1 experience
Experience with compliant (flexible) part modeling
Knowledge of fixture strategies, locating schemes, and build sequences
Experience with BIW, closures, interior, or exterior systems
