are seeking an outstanding candidate for the role of Residency Program Director for a new Community Psychiatry Residency Program at the

MUSC Health Leatherman Center for Behavioral Health

in Florence, South Carolina.

Position Summary Based at the new Leatherman Center for Behavioral Health, the MUSC Florence Psychiatry Residency provides an opportunity to initiate and grow a community-based Psychiatry Residency Program, finalize the curriculum, recruit and mentor psychiatry residents, and participate in medical student education, leadership, and clinical care across the MUSC Health system.

Responsibilities

Administration and operations, teaching and scholarly activity, resident recruitment, selection, evaluation, promotion, disciplinary action; supervision of residents; resident education within patient care context; compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements.

Program development, growth and adherence to ACGME accreditation standards.

Ensuring compliance with MUSC-Regional Network GME policies and procedures.

Didactic and clinical teaching and supervision of residents in the Psychiatry program.

Providing direct patient care as part of the faculty practice, including call coverage.

Participation in quality improvement and research programs and other collaborative activities within the MUSC community.

Recruitment, supervision and evaluation of residents and core faculty; program evaluation, development and improvement under Graduate Medical Education (GME).

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.

Graduation from an ACGME accredited residency program.

Outstanding educational and administrative skills.

A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in medicine.

Current certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Three years of experience as Associate Program Director or Program Director in Psychiatry.

Unrestricted medical licensure in the State of South Carolina.

Unrestricted DEA and South Carolina controlled substance registration.

Preferred Qualifications

Regional or national leadership experience in medical education and GME.

Significant accomplishment in related scholarship.

A rapid access center providing walk-in triage and assessment with transition to care.

Telepsychiatry services to improve access across the region.

Sixteen adult and four adolescent beds for crisis services to rapidly stabilize patients.

Intensive Outpatient / Partial Hospitalization Programs offering counseling services and medication management for adults and adolescents.

A 63-bed inpatient psychiatric unit for patients needing acute care.

Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
