Nurse Practitioner Correctional Facility
Location: Maximum Security Male Correctional Facility, New York
Schedule: Monday Friday 7:00 AM 3:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
Coverage: Scheduled (No call) Overtime may be required
Security Note: No cell phones permitted on facility grounds
Clearance: Background check required
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide comprehensive primary care to adult male inmates in a maximum-security setting. The NP will serve as the primary care provider, managing both acute and chronic medical needs in collaboration with a licensed physician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical exams and health assessments for male patients aged 18 and older
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses within scope of practice
- Develop and implement patient care plans, in consultation with a supervising physician
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to inform care decisions
- Document clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments according to NY State regulations
- Refer patients to specialists or external providers when necessary
Requirements:
- Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license
- Certification by the New York State Education Department in a Nurse Practitioner specialty
- Minimum of 1 2 years of relevant clinical experience (preferably in corrections, primary care, or underserved populations)
- Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently in a secure facility setting
