Position Overview
A high-acuity emergency department in South Carolina is seeking Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians for night shift locum coverage beginning in September or October 2025 . The facility offers flexible overnight scheduling in either 8- or 12-hour blocks and operates with full APP and scribe support. Candidates must be Emergency Medicine residency trained, proficient in all emergency procedures, and comfortable treating patients of all ages.
Assignment Highlights
- Night shift coverage options:
- 8-hour shifts: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Level II trauma center operating at Level I acuity
- Newly constructed 80-bed ED with separate psych area (opened 2021)
- Daily ED census: 190 visits
- Built to handle 100,000+ patients annually
- Full team of APPs (5+), APP extenders, and scribes
- All EM procedures required (intubations, central lines, trauma response)
- Must be comfortable with pediatrics through geriatrics
- Prepaid travel and lodging
- Joint Commission-certified agency (HPA Healthcare)
- Orientation required before first shift (weekday only)
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
- Emergency Medicine residency trained
- Active South Carolina medical license
- Valid SC CSR and DEA , both registered in SC
- Recent experience in high-volume, trauma-capable EDs
- Proficient in full-scope ED procedures and documentation
