Security Officer Position
Staff armed security posts and provide security for the personnel and property of, and visitors to, assigned US Government Property in Philadelphia, PA and the surrounding counties. Responsibilities include protecting personnel and property in a professional manner, meeting and dealing tactfully and politely with the general public and visitors, effectively and efficiently screening and processing visitors, identifying, reporting, delaying or detaining persons who violate rules and regulations, conducting internal and external roving foot patrols, maintaining excellent detection rates on x-ray machines, detecting and responding to alarms and emergencies, securing entrances and exits during emergencies, communicating and remaining accessible via two-way radio or company-issued cell phone, understanding and complying with all requirements defined within company documents to include post and general orders, plans, policies, procedures, observing and reporting all offenses/incidents, completing all reports and paperwork as required, providing first aid, CPR, and assisting during emergencies as necessary, wearing protective body armor as a part of the duty uniform, maintaining mandated training requirements in accordance with company guidance, maintaining physical fitness, agility requirements, and weapons qualifications, ensuring safety requirements compliance and safe work practices, supporting safety programs, participating in quality and process improvement programs, and performing other duties as assigned. Regular, in-person attendance is required.
Qualifications include being a US Citizen with a social security card, possessing a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, being at least 21 years of age, having a current PA Act 235 Lethal Weapons Training Program Certification, having a minimum of two years' armed work experience in one or a combination of the following: (1) armed security guard experience within the past five years, (2) relevant military service, or (3) successful completion of a state certified law enforcement education and training or police officer's standard training course, meeting and maintaining medical, physical, and psychological standards as outlined in the contract, meeting background screening and U.S. Government suitability requirements, and the ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance. Successful completion of Protective Security Officer Training and certification is also required.

Working conditions may include being subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather, high noise levels, hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, lifting more than 10 pounds, bending, twisting, standing, and some activities that involve standing for long periods of time, often without breaks, conducting foot patrols and response to alarms in varied weather conditions, and being required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator. May be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk-up inclines and on uneven terrain.
