Job Description Worthington Steel is seeking a dynamic Plant Engineering Manager in Cleveland, Ohio to lead our engineering team and drive capital projects, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This hands‑on leadership role collaborates closely with operations and maintenance to enhance facility performance.
Ideal candidates have 7‑10 years of progressive engineering experience, a background in steel processing and lean manufacturing, and thrive in a high‑volume production environment. Strong analytical skills, project management expertise, and cross‑functional collaboration are key.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage capital projects, including cost estimation, Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs), and project tracking.
Maintains CAR tracker to ensure accuracy and monitor project expenditures.
Conduct regular meetings with Operations and Maintenance Managers to review project prioritization, CARs and upcoming initiatives.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to support staff development in troubleshooting and technical skills.
Oversee the plant engineering change notice process.
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 in coordination with the Quality Manager.
Manage facility upkeep, including buildings, grounds, equipment, and associated documentation.
Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and operational efficiency.
Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely project execution.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum of 7 years of progressive engineering experience with increasing responsibility required.
This role requires regular onsite work. Candidates must be able to commute to our Cleveland, Ohio location.
Bachelor's degree in engineering field required.
Summary Responsible for engineering support of facilities and processing equipment. Works closely with the operations manager and leadership team on a frequent basis. Oversee and assist the work of technical staff performing functions of maintenance, engineering, capital improvement project management, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement related to quality and process controls. Serves on management review team providing input and guidance for issues on safety, quality and productivity. Will be designated as Emergency Coordinator to direct or give guidance to events such as fire, utility interruption, oil spills and any other anomaly having adverse impact to plant operations. Responsible for electrical power distribution throughout the facility.
