Surgical Technician - OR

Job Summary Under direct supervision, performs a variety of duties in the OR and related areas to assist the surgical team, following established policies and procedures.

Sign‑on bonus: $13,500 with required relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Scrubs on all types of operating procedures; handles surgical instruments, sutures & sponges; anticipates surgeons' needs and assists as necessary.
Maintains strict aseptic technique; ensures instruments are accounted for during and after surgery.
Observes patient's condition while in the OR; reports any changes to the staff nurse and/or anesthesia.
Prepares for scheduled operative procedures, ensuring necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available.
Maintains a clean and safe OR environment; cleans rooms, sterilizes equipment, and restocks OR supplies.
Assists in the transportation of patients to and from the OR; verifies patient identity, assists with lifting and positioning.
May assist as second circulator under RN direction; prepares materials for departmental education programs.
Assists in trial and evaluation of new surgical products; provides input on new policies and procedures.
Participates in assigned committees; performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent training.
Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists highly desirable.
One to two years of experience as a surgical technician preferred.
