This is a full‑time position located at the State Museum in New Orleans, LA.

Job Overview The Audio Visual Production Manager will manage all audio and video support for museum exhibitions; operate and maintain audio, video, and lighting systems and other AV‑related equipment; troubleshoot and repair equipment; and provide technical support for internal/rental events as needed. This position will work as a liaison between the Louisiana State Museum and contracted production companies, consultants, and artists.

Qualifications

Six years of experience in planning, directing, or producing television programs or audio‑visual presentations; OR

A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in planning, directing, or producing television programs or audio‑visual presentations; OR

A bachelor's degree in film studies, broadcasting, digital media, cinematography, or communications plus two years of experience in planning, directing, or producing television programs or audio‑visual presentations; OR

An advanced degree in film studies, broadcasting, digital media, cinematography, or communications plus one year of experience in planning, directing, or producing television programs or audio‑visual presentations.

Job Duties The Audio Visual Production Manager’s responsibilities include operation, maintenance, and management of sound systems, video systems, audio‑video recording systems, which include self‑powered speakers, microphones, exhibit lighting systems, exhibit audio systems, video players, video database systems, and will provide AV support where needed.

Manage all audio visual assets throughout the Louisiana State Museum System.

Manage all communications connectivity throughout the museum sites and with outside companies.

Manages installation of exhibit lighting, maintaining exhibit audio and A/V components, installing audio video components for exhibit videos.

Manage, develop, and solicit competitive bids for vendor services and equipment purchase or capital projects.

Make recommendations for purchases to the Louisiana State Museum Curatorial Services Director.

Manage technical needs and oversee performance of technology.

Manage and maintain all audio, video, and lighting equipment.

Conduct web streaming/video of lectures, meetings, and various curatorial presentations related to the Louisiana State Museum.

Coordinate user support for all audio video software and hardware related issues.

Act as technical contact for various audio, video, and lighting needs for events and exhibits; work with clients to assess audio, video, and lighting equipment needs; recommend labor requirements to Louisiana State Museum Curatorial Services Director.

Update and maintain all technical drawings related to all audio, video, and lighting equipment.

Keep accurate inventory of tools, machinery, cleaning of supplies, and related equipment.

Maintain work logs to ensure proper and timely recording of work activity.

Perform preventative maintenance projects, and secure competitive bids for facility maintenance and repair projects as needed.

Collaborate with the Master Electrician in the preparation of an overall maintenance plans.

Perform maintenance projects as assigned by the Louisiana State Museum Curatorial Services Director and schedule crews for maintenance plan.

Identify and advise both short-term and long-term capital improvement needs.

Keep current on industry trends in audio, video, and lighting systems and best practices to accommodate the needs and requirements of museums.

Position requires employee to perform physical duties including working as varying heights and moving heavy objects.

Heavy machinery operation may be required.

Maintain safe work environment; advise of possible risks or hazards.

Other duties as assigned.

Position‑Specific Details

Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a probational appointment; current permanent status employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.

Work Schedule: This is a full‑time position that reports in‑office at the State museum in New Orleans. This position may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime. This position may be required to travel.

Location: This position is located in New Orleans, LA.
