Position Summary

Neighborhood House is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support day-to-day financial operations. This role provides essential administrative and accounting support to the Finance team, helping ensure accurate financial records, compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and strong internal controls. Working under the supervision of the Finance Manager, the Accounting Clerk supports accounts payable and other general accounting functions while providing responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Support day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable

Assist with payroll, accounts receivable, and reconciliations

Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

Support financial reporting, audits, and grant tracking

Ensure compliance with organizational policies and nonprofit accounting standards

Collaborate with finance staff to support efficient financial processes

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of accounting principles; nonprofit experience preferred

1–3 years of general accounting or bookkeeping experience

Experience with accounting software and Excel

Strong attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality

Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
