Overview Program Implementation and Evaluation
Manage the Special Populations caseload for a campus (IEP, 504, ELL).
Collaborate to design high‑quality IEPs and 504 plans with appropriate accommodations aligned to student data.
Design and implement testing accommodation schedules for school‑wide assessments and classroom‑based assessments.
Consistently monitor and evaluate progress toward goals for students on caseload, in collaboration with SPED teachers, general education teachers and external service providers.
Participate in SST to support development of high‑quality interventions, crisis response, and post‑ventions.
People Development
Coach and supervise an Academic Specialist, Behavior Specialist, Licensed Clinician, and Academic Intervention Fellows, and manage external service providers.
Collaborate with campus leaders to lead weekly professional development sessions and coach teachers.
Manage the Language Access Coordinator.
Lead special education staff in writing high‑quality Report of Performance, IEP goals, and progress reports.
Wrap‑Around Services
Identify, plan, and implement strategies to address barriers to learning, including attendance, behavior, and social adjustment.
Coordinate annual summer program for all DC Prep students and support extended learning services such as tutoring.
Stewardship
Understand IDEA, Section 504 law and its implications in DC Prep’s LEA.
Articulate child‑find procedures and SOPs, and manage MDT/504 meetings.
Complete required documentation within timelines to maintain compliance.
Manage eligibility evaluations and prepare IEP and 504 plan goals.
School Community
Promote DC Prep’s mission, vision, and values to students, staff, parents, and the community.
Communicate regularly with families to build supportive relationships and reinforce expectations.
Engage parents in activities such as meetings, field trips, and policy council.
Model the DC Prep way of rigorous academics and purposeful behavior instruction.
Maintain professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
General Leadership Team Responsibilities
Build strong relationships with families and lead family programming.
Engage in SST, support teachers in developing student support plans.
Lead grade‑level team meetings and align on expectations.
Administrative Duties
Participate in staff working groups to plan and problem‑solve.
Attend school activities and meetings.
Liaise with Home Office staff to achieve organizational goals.
Perform additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications Educational background and work experience
Minimum of 3–5 years special education teaching and leadership experience in an urban school community.
Familiarity with urban primary school students, ideally preschool‑8th grade.
Prior experience as a Special Education Coordinator preferred.
Prior experience teaching or leading in a fully inclusive setting.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Campus Leadership Team The Home Office oversees non‑instructional aspects of education, freeing leaders to focus on instruction and culture. Principals, Assistant Principals, Student Support Coach, and Special Education Coordinator work together to build collaborative communities focusing on rigorous academics and character education.

Essential Functions
Staff are on duty Monday–Friday 7:15 am–4:15 pm and prepare classroom by 7:30 am. On Wednesdays, staff report until 5:00 pm for professional development.
Occasionally staff may be required to report to a different campus for professional development or network events.
Perform clerical duties related to instructional supplies, student reports, attendance, assessments, etc.
Complete morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned.
Additional responsibilities may arise during the school year (field trips, events, conferences, home visits).
Physical Demands
Must sit and work at a desk/ computer for extended periods.
Must spend majority of day standing or moving in the classroom, and handle up to 30 lbs.
Ability to concentrate in active and noisy environments.
Must perform repetitive wrist/hand/finger movements.
Ability to handle high‑stress conditions.
