Base pay range:
$21.75/hr - $29.00/hr
Pharmacy Duties
Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in performance of Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
Customer Experience
Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision in compliance with state, federal, and company policy. Review and comply with the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, staff pharmacist, and store manager, including entering patient and drug information, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine accuracy, and checking for interactions.
Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Adhere strictly to Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
Register sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, and guide customers to OTC aisle when possible.
Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention.
Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services timely and accurately.
Assist pharmacy department with inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
Assist pharmacist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples and coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assist pharmacy manager and staff pharmacist in maintaining relationships with local medical providers.
Assist with interior and exterior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department.
Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state required certification.
Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager, while acquiring continuing education credits.
Maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest developments.
Basic Qualifications
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription counting, measuring, and weighing.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.
