Job Description The E92 Model Based Engineering (MBE) team is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Engineer 5 as the new program Digital Engineering Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and support our efforts to revolutionize how we evaluate, develop, and implement digital technology for our Shipyard and focus on Navy customer interaction.
Responsibilities
Set the vision for Digital Engineering products at NNS to align with Navy strategy
Set the strategic direction of Digital Engineering efforts to enable the wider Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing and In‑service support
Develop strategic technical work plans for multiple funding streams
Serve as the technical leader for digital engineering with internal and external leadership
Manage customer relationships with internal and external leadership and peers
Investigate, test, and develop new capabilities to enable increased throughput
Work to integrate and standardize data, processes and tools across programs and systems to ensure data integrity, data reuse and data access/dissemination to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in the company’s core business processes
Partner with IT Architectures to ensure architecture solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet financial targets (cost and benefits)
Ensure system integration and tracking across numerous programs and projects at all stages of development to ensure successful implementation
Collaborate with customers and industry, manage vendor data exchange, document processes and procedures, develop modeling standards, and produce Model Based Engineering educational materials
Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems across all lifecycle stages: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
Ensure logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints
Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
Qualifications Must have one of the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 14 years of relevant exempt experience
Master’s Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 9 years of experience
Desired experience includes system engineering thought process, techniques to analyze and improve processes across programs, and the ability to develop a clear vision from ambiguous requirements.
