Position Overview:
The Distribution Superintendent will interface with the national logistics organization to ensure the efficient and effective use of product distribution resources. Understanding of DOT requirements, truck maintenance procedures, and Linde quality assurance program are required. The Distribution Superintendent will be responsible for utilizing best practices in order to meet KPI goals for distribution, as well as finding ways to increase productivity. They will also be responsible for implementation of safety programs, training, and compliance with quality assurance systems and government regulations. The Distribution Superintendent has responsibility oversight for the day-to-day management of the distribution operations supported by approximately 20 professional drivers and 2 Truck Mechanics at Loudon, TN and Greeneville, TN. Accessibility during off-hours (via laptop and cell phone) is required. This position will be based in Loudon, TN.
Responsibilities:
Day-to-day supervision of truck drivers and maintenance personnel
Always ensuring compliance with all safety (both internal and DOT requirements)
Ensures compliance with all local, state, federal, and Linde policies regarding environmental, permitting, and product quality requirements.
Responsible for reviewing plant distribution maintenance expenses and recommending cost savings initiatives
Interviewing, hiring, and training new drivers to fill open positions
Ensure training records are kept on all employees and all necessary training is scheduled, attended, and completed.
Responsible for reviewing trip efficiency and safety data and developing/implementing action plans for improvement
Ensure housekeeping of distribution equipment and distribution areas
Work as a team with the facilities superintendent and production personnel to maintain high levels of productivity
Manage fleet maintenance schedules to minimize impact on operations, while maintaining the material condition of the equipment
Contribute to Linde productivity initiatives by finding and implementing cost reduction/lean/six sigma projects and ideas.
Resolves customer delivery issues communicated by drivers
Visit customer sites to resolve delivery issues
Complete required safety observations of drivers, drivers’ activities on and off site while loading and unloading, along with driver rides as they complete deliveries.
This position requires working with union drivers and managing the drivers per the contract, along with correcting issues and issuing discipline.
Required to review Drive Cam’s and Speed Gauge daily and complete coaching and discipline as it relates to unsafe events.
Lead/Support RCA/RCI investigations as necessary
Works across all levels of Linde organizations to achieve desired results into a cohesive and effective management team.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent 10+ years operations and/or trucking experience 3+ years management experience Preferred Currently holds or can obtain a CDL and a Hazmat endorsement
Other Requirements Include:
Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone)
Able to travel outside the local area 50% of the time.
