Childrens Hospital of Michigan (CHM), a leading freestanding children's hospital, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Consultant to join our inpatient team. This role is dedicated to providing OMM consultations for hospitalized pediatric patients across multiple units, including general pediatrics, newborn, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, and rehabilitation teams. The ideal candidate will bring a patient-centered, holistic approach to managing complex inpatient conditions through osteopathic principles and manipulative techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Provide bedside OMM consultations and treatment for inpatients referred by hospitalist, intensivist, surgical, and subspecialty teams.

Address musculoskeletal dysfunctions, somatic complaints, post-operative recovery, feeding challenges, and other inpatient concerns where OMM is appropriate.

Participate in interdisciplinary care rounds and case conferences to collaborate on integrative care plans.

Educate families, medical staff, residents, and students on OMM techniques and their clinical indications in pediatric inpatient care.

Document patient evaluations, treatment plans, and responses to OMM in the electronic health record (EHR).

Contribute to the development and refinement of inpatient OMM protocols and referral pathways.

Demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care and a dedication to improving the health and well-being of the community.

Required Qualifications

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or Medical Doctor (MD) degree from an accredited institution.

Completion of an AOA- or ACGME-accredited residency in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or NMM/ONMM.

Board-certified or board-eligible in relevant specialty.

Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the state of Michigan

Demonstrated proficiency in OMM with pediatric inpatient populations.

Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary hospital environments.

Preferred Qualifications

DEA, BLS, and ACLS certification or willingness to obtain

Fellowship training or advanced training in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine or Pediatric OMM.

Experience in acute care or inpatient pediatric settings.

Interest in teaching and scholarly activity, particularly related to integrative inpatient care.

Commitment to equity, safety, and excellence in pediatric healthcare.

Common Conditions Treated Gastrointestinal Disorders: constipation, failure to thrive, gastro‑esophageal reflux

Newborn Care: feeding and latching difficulties, oral motor dysfunction

Neuromuscular Disorders: post‑concussion syndrome, scoliosis, genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy

Pain Management: Acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain, headaches, sickle cell crisis, injuries

Respiratory Disorders: bronchiolitis, asthma, pneumonia, respiratory failure, chronic lung disease

Other Conditions: post‑surgical recovery, inpatient pediatric rehabilitation and more
