IT Infrastructure Manager (Hybrid, Linux, Google Cloud, Networking)
Los Angeles, CA – On‑site
Position Summary The IT Infrastructure Manager leads a team of 12 and owns the design, security, and day‑to‑day operations of a hybrid infrastructure environment spanning on‑prem systems and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is hands‑on and operationally focused, with strong expectations in Linux administration, networking, and automation/scripting to improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and strengthen security and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers/administrators; set priorities, manage workload, and build a strong on‑call/incident response culture.
Establish operational standards (runbooks, escalation paths, change management, problem management, capacity planning).
Drive cross‑functional coordination with Security, Engineering, Helpdesk, and business stakeholders.
Own architecture and operations across hybrid environments (data center/on‑prem + GCP), including connectivity, identity, and shared services.
Manage GCP foundations: org/projects, IAM, VPCs, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Logging/Monitoring, and cost controls.
Plan and execute cloud migrations and modernization initiatives while maintaining stability and minimizing downtime.
Oversee Linux fleet administration and hardening (patching, vulnerability remediation, performance tuning, configuration standards).
Implement observability: monitoring, alerting, dashboards, SLIs/SLOs; ensure proactive detection and fast recovery.
Own core networking strategy and operations: LAN/WAN, routing/switching, DNS/DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and segmentation.
Ensure secure and resilient on‑prem ↔ cloud connectivity (e.g., site‑to‑site VPNs, interconnect patterns as applicable).
Partner with vendors/ISPs to manage circuits, performance, and escalations.
Drive automation through scripting/coding (e.g., Bash/Python) to standardize builds, reduce repetitive work, and improve reliability.
Promote Infrastructure as Code and configuration management practices (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and version‑controlled change workflows.
Enforce least‑privilege access, secrets/key management, audit logging, and system hardening across cloud and on‑prem.
Own backup strategy and disaster recovery planning; run periodic recovery tests and document results.
Lead incident RCA and implement preventative actions to reduce recurrence.
Required Qualifications
5+ years in infrastructure/IT operations with hybrid environments, including 3+ years managing teams (experience leading 8–15 person teams preferred).
Strong hands‑on Linux administration experience (Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS), including troubleshooting and security hardening.
Strong hands‑on networking experience (DNS, DHCP, TLS, VPN, firewalls, routing, switching, segmentation, load balancing).
Working experience in Google Cloud Platform (IAM, VPC, Compute, Storage, logging/monitoring).
Scripting/coding experience (Bash and/or Python) used for automation and operational tooling.
Demonstrated incident management experience (on‑call, escalation, RCA, measurable reliability improvements).
Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Pay Rate
The total compensation for this role is $160,000 to $185,000.
The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
