Gaming Commissioner (Cowlitz Tribal Member Only)

Cowlitz Indian Tribe is inviting qualified Cowlitz Indian Tribal members to consider service as a member of the Tribal Gaming Commission.

Position Details

Salary: Stipend and mileage per meeting

Description Of The Position The Tribal Council seeks letters of interest and resumes from Tribal members who wish to serve on the Cowlitz Tribal Gaming Commission. Commissioners may attend meetings and be called upon to conduct additional work outside the regular meeting schedule.

Terms of Office Initial terms will be staggered between five and seven years.

Eligibility and Experience

Must be a member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.

Minimum five years of experience in gaming management, business, finance, or law is desired.

Experience may also include public accounting, business finance, public or business administration, judicial or dispute resolution services, criminal justice, civil or criminal investigation, or law.

Commissioners must satisfy suitability standards for key employees and primary management officials, including background investigations.

Additional Requirements

No member of the Tribal Gaming Board of Directors (Cowlitz Tribal Gaming Authority) or employee of the gaming operation may serve on the Commission.

No person directly related to any Tribal Gaming Director may serve on the Commission without a written waiver by the Tribal Council.

Commissioners are prohibited from gambling at the Tribal casino.

Time commitment may include additional responsibilities beyond scheduled meetings.

Commissioners receive a stipend per meeting; they are not eligible for employee benefits.

Commissioners are subject to the Tribal Code of Ethics and Section 23 of the Gaming Ordinance.

The Tribe is a Drug & Alcohol-Free workplace. Potential candidates must submit and pass drug screening and a criminal background check.
