Payroll Analyst Lead (Remote) From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. The Payroll Analyst Lead is responsible for supporting, developing, and enhancing processes that ensure accurate and timely payment for over 250,000 partners across the U.S. and Canada. This role supports the payroll seniors, analysts, and associates in weekly payroll processing, resolving complex payroll issues, and maintaining compliance with established controls. Additionally, the Payroll Analyst Lead will provide training to team members, champion best practices, and drive advancements to optimize payroll operations.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiencies through audits and reconciliations for all aspects of payroll processing.

Develop training/communication to deploy process improvements.

Support management in accomplishing the organization’s payroll processing objectives and serve as a change agent to promote best practices and technological advancements.

Assist with mentoring and training of payroll analysts and associates.

Qualifications

Multi‑state/Provincial full‑cycle payroll processing experience, including time entry to general ledger entry.

Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail and execution, with the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology and identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements.

Foundational understanding of payroll including garnishments, bonus payments, special payments and payroll taxes for US (required) and Canada (preferred). Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.

Strong customer skills with consistent follow‑through and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to lead, mentor, and coach peers and other partners.

If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
