Principal Engineer: Turbine Aerodynamics
Develop and assess innovative aerodynamic designs for advanced gas turbine turbines to meet performance goals (efficiency and flow capacity).
Perform steady and unsteady Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to predict component performance and understand complex flow phenomena.
Analyze engine and aircraft flight data to evaluate in-service performance, troubleshoot operational problems, and recommend performance-enhancing modifications.
Collaborate on the planning and execution of rig and engine tests, including instrumentation definition and data reduction efforts.
Interface with mechanical design and heat transfer teams to ensure integrated, optimized designs that balance aerodynamic performance with structural integrity and cooling requirements.
Apply multi-disciplinary optimization techniques to balance performance with other engine metrics.
Qualifications you must have
A degree of BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from a credited school;
10 years of related working experiences (MS count for 2 yrs; PhD for 3yrs);
Experiences with CFD tool packages;
US CITIZEN
Qualifications We Prefer
Master’s or PhD with a specialization in turbomachinery aerodynamics;
7 years of direct industrial experiences in turbine/compressor aerodynamics for gas turbine engines, power generation or aircraft engines;
Hand on Experience in 1D, 2D, and 3D aerodynamic design/analysis for turbines/compressors;
Hand on Experience in CFD analysis using ANSYS CFX Suite or Cadence Fidelity Fine Turbo (NUMECA Fine/Turbo) CFD package;
Hand on Experience in CFD analysis using Star CCM+ or FLUENT;
Hand on Experience in using CAD tools like NX or Creo;
Programming capabilities in Python and MatLab, or the equivalent;
Excellent communication skills for the teams and customers.
