Senior Distribution Designer (On Site)
Supporting a large utility client in Hawaii as part of the Transmission & Distribution Engineering team, this role performs design and project engineering duties for power distribution projects.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare plans, layouts, and design calculations for electric utility projects in accordance with company standards, codes, and regulations.
Perform design and engineering studies, including load analysis, voltage drop, relay coordination, and customer demand load calculations.
Review and approve customer electrical plans for conformance with EUSERC, NEC, and utility standards.
Conduct field inspections and verify compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate with internal engineering teams, contractors, and consultants on design deliverables and technical issues.
Prepare RFPs, evaluate proposals, and recommend design or equipment purchases.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Senior Level: 10+ years of experience in T&D or electrical design; experience within utilities preferred.
Intermediate Level: 3–5 years of experience in electrical design within power distribution or transmission; experience within utilities preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of power engineering design, project engineering, and project management principles.
Familiarity with EUSERC, NESC, and telecommunication attachment processes.
Proficient with AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, spreadsheets, and word processing tools.
Ability to adhere to federal, state, and county regulations related to utility projects.
Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
Valid State of Hawaii driver’s license or ability to qualify for one.
