Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer at our Grand Rapids, MI location. It is a leading supplier of secondary flight control systems for commercial and business aircraft OEMs. The expected annual salary range for this role is $83,000 - $122,000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.
What You’ll Do
Provide hands‑on test leadership for new product development programs.
Design and develop new test equipment for verification of electro‑mechanical actuators during development, qualification, and production phases.
Write engineering documents such as test plans, procedures, and reports.
Manage the design, build, and verification of test equipment through external suppliers.
Develop test equipment requirements from customer and product requirements.
Coordinate testing with outside test labs.
Support technicians in test execution and test equipment development.
Create and release engineering drawings and schematics.
Provide troubleshooting and repair of test equipment.
Perform hands‑on testing as required.
Comply with Eaton’s high expectations for a safe work environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or other Engineering field from an accredited institution.
Minimum 3 years of experience with new product development, sustaining, and/or test engineering.
Must reside within a 70‑mile radius of Grand Rapids, MI (active‑duty military exempt).
Access to export‑controlled information is required. Applicants must be U.S. persons.
Preferred Criteria
Knowledge and experience with DO‑160 or MIL‑STD testing requirements.
Experience writing test procedures and reports.
Project management experience.
Experience with testing electrical or hydraulic systems.
Skills
Knowledge of CATIA, ProE, or other 3D design tool.
Experience with RCCA.
Hands‑on experience with designing, troubleshooting, and/or building test setups or other systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent facilitation skills, project management skills, and drive for results.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage time and project schedules.
Good organizational skills both written and verbal.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated experience in team environments.
